Pathways Summer Excursion Program

The Pathways Summer Excursion Program aims to address  the lack of hands-on educational and recreational activities to children in low-income communities during the summer months. The Summer Excursion program also aims to assist summer camps and child care centers, who have a lack of resources, with providing a comprehensive summer program to their participants.

Children of the Light’s Pathways Summer Program establishes a comprehensive curriculum of hands-on learning activities to provide to children in underprivileged communities.  The organization offers a healthy balance of educational and recreational activities designed to engage children and to provide them with learning opportunities outside of a classroom setting. Children residing in underserved and/or underprivileged communities will benefit from the Pathways Summer Excursion program.

Children of the Light, Inc. has identified numerous activities to offer to the participants of the program.  Activities offered  include but are not limited to, museum excursions (some with scavenger hunts), arts and crafts sessions, workout sessions from a certified trainer, lessons about the environment and horticulture (trips to the Botanical gardens, teaching students how to plant flowers and vegetables, etc.), cultural infusions to teach participants about various cultures through demonstrations, food tastings, etc. in addition to other activities.  The curriculum will be implemented by partnering with various locations, groups and trainers to provide program participants with the identified activities and/or programs.
